Waffles (Central Asian Shepherd - Livestock Guardian Dog)'s Story
Contact Erika 916-765-8573

Meet Waffles (formerly Yeti)!

Waffles is a stunning young girl with an incredibly loving, gentle soul. She came to us at about 4 months old looking like a big ol’ Lab puppy and was believed to be a Lab/guardian mix. She was adopted quickly by a family who truly fell in love with her. However, when her DNA results came back showing she is a pure Central Asian Shepherd, they realized they weren’t prepared for the unique needs of a true livestock guardian breed and made the difficult decision to return her.

Waffles is a gentle giant in the making (currently about 80 lbs.) who would thrive with a family that has some space for her to stretch her legs and run. While livestock is not required, it would certainly be a bonus for this guardian girl. She will do well in a home where she can spend time both indoors with her people and outdoors keeping watch over her space.

Despite her guardian heritage, she is incredibly sweet with everyone she meets and happily melts into belly rubs and affection. She does well with other dogs and was great with her foster’s cats—often trying to cozy up to them or get them to play.

She is housebroken, crate trained, and walks well on leash, making her a great candidate for continued training and structure. Like any 8-month-old puppy, she is still learning and will test boundaries, so she needs a dog-savvy home that understands large breeds and is committed to her ongoing development.

And while she may be a livestock guardian by breed, she kept one very Lab-like trait—she absolutely loves water! If there’s a kiddie pool nearby, Waffles will happily splash around and enjoy herself. A pool would be a nice bonus for her!

Waffles is truly special and will be an amazing addition to the right home that appreciates her breed, size, and loyal heart. If you’re looking for a devoted guardian with a soft, loving side, Waffles may be your girl

Currently fostered in Loomis, CA

All puppies adopted with a puppy addendum that covers spay and vaccines.
