Waffles (Central Asian Shepherd - Livestock Guardian Dog)'s Story

Contact Erika 916-765-8573

Meet Waffles (formerly Yeti), a purebred Central Asian Shepherd (not listed in Petfinder. She is approximately 75 pounds.

Waffles is a stunning young girl with an incredibly loving, gentle soul. She came to us at just 4 months old looking like a big ol’ Lab puppy and was believed to be a Lab/guardian mix. She was adopted quickly by a family who truly fell in love with her. However, when her DNA results came back showing she is a pure Central Asian Shepherd, they realized they weren’t prepared for the unique needs of a true livestock guardian breed and made the difficult decision to return her.

Waffles is a gentle giant in the making who would thrive with a family looking for an LGD so she can fulfill her natural instincts—guarding property, livestock, and her people. Despite her guardian heritage, she is incredibly sweet with everyone she meets and will happily melt into belly rubs and affection.

She does well with other dogs and was great with her foster’s cats—often trying to cozy up to them or entice them to play. She is housebroken, crate trained, and walks well on leash, making her a great candidate for continued training and structure. Like any 6-month-old puppy, she is still learning and will test boundaries, so she needs a dog-savvy home that understands large guardian breeds and is committed to her ongoing development.

Waffles is truly special and will be an amazing addition to the right home that appreciates her breed, size, and loyal heart. Her foster loves her and says she’s something special. If you’re looking for a devoted guardian with a soft, loving side, Waffles may be your girl.

Located in Loomis, CA

All puppies adopted with a puppy addendum that covers spay and vaccines.
