My name is Waffles and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m 3 y.o. and weigh about 32 lbs. I came to my foster home here in Winfield, MO, after I was found all by myself and SIRA was asked to help. I’m a happy, confident boy and I’ve been a very good boy in my foster home. Foster mom says I’m perfect – well, almost perfect. I stay in the bedroom when my foster parents are away at work and I don’t chew or destroy anything. I like to nap or watch out the window. And when they’re home, I love head scratches and belly rubs! I also enjoy being brushed. I don’t live with any human kids, but I greet children very appropriately when we’re out on walks. I love to go for walks, either in the neighborhood or out in a park or trail. I like car rides too, but my forever family will need to tether me securely or I might jump out the window if I see something I want to investigate. You see, I have a typical Shiba prey drive and love to chase squirrels, rabbits, deer and cats. So if we’re walking on leash, you’ll need to have a strong arm, and you will need to be careful when opening doors or gates to the outside in order to prevent escapes. There are cats who live here in my foster home, but they don’t run away from me so I’m not tempted to chase them. I’m good with the other dogs that we meet on walks. My butt wiggles with excitement because I want to play! My perfect forever home would be one that can give me regular exercise – either leash walks or time in a securely fenced yard. I’m quiet, so I’d likely adapt to apartment living. I think I’d like to have another nice dog to play with, but it’s not a requirement. I’m a healthy boy – neutered and vaccinated.
