Virginia's Story
Meet Virginia, she and her litter mates were found at a dumpsite in Kentucky. The owners of the site reached to the rescue. Thanks to the owners, Hart took them in. I’ll never understand how someone could abandon these little ones. Our vet determined them to be 6 weeks old guessing their birth date to be December 10 th 2025.

Virginia is almost 4 months old now and ready for her family. She currently weighs 15 lbs. guessing when fully grown to be around 30 lbs. best guess on breed, dachshund mix. She has a long body and short legs. She’s doing great on potty training, going outside often. Has had a few accidents but coming along great.

She doesn’t like staying outside very long. She wants inside, and on your lap. Foster home has dogs of all sizes and she does well with all of them. Has been around children of all ages and is great with them.

She goes in her crate very well, with a snack of course. Sleeps all night without a peep. Virginia does get a little carsick. Hopefully she will grow out of it. She does come when called but we will require a fenced yard for adoption. Another dog in the family would be great also. She has a lot of energy to burn. Do your research on dachshunds. They were bred for rabbit hunting, thus her energy level. She is a mix though. If you’re interested in meeting Virginia submit an application and someone will contact you.

All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks!
