Violeta's Story
ADOPTION PENDING - Welcome to Violeta’s story! We are guessing that many of you are here because you are curious to learn what about the Sarplaninac breed.

To summarize, this breed of dog comes from the Sar Mountain region of Macedonia and Serbia, and it is highly valued by those “in the know”.
The breed is known for its devotion to its family, its calm demeanor, and also for its beautiful, soft, “teddy bear” coat.
(Because of Petfinder's format, we had to post her as a Sarplaninac/Shepherd mix, but--in reality--she is a purebred Sarplaninac.)

A few months ago, Violeta was found as an abandoned puppy in Macedonia. Taken in by a kind hearted lady, Violeta was vetted and cared for during the next few months after which time she was ready to be adopted loving family.
Sadly, Macedonia is a relatively poor country where dogs aren’t often well treated and good homes are difficult to find. So now that Violeta is ready to be adopted, our rescue has made arrangements with our “sister rescue” in Macedonia to have Violeta flown to our rescue here in the US!

Although she doesn’t come with “papers”, Violeta is a purebred Macedonian Shepherd and she is an excellent example of her breed.
She is affectionate, intelligent, even-tempered, and good with older children (who have been taught to be gentle and respectful of dogs). She is about eight months old now and will be a fairly big dog--maturing at approximately 75 pounds.
(While Violeta is not necessarily a heavy shedder—all dogs do shed some, and she willl need regular brushing to keep her coat healthy. )

Violeta enjoys the great outdoors, so her adopter needs to have a large, safely fenced yard (not invisible fencing) and another even-tempered dog for her to play with and to learn from.

Because she loves her people so much, we would prefer that she not be a “latch key” dog. (An adopter who works just part time, work from home, or be retired would be the best match for her.)

At adoption Violeta will have been spayed, immunized, microchipped, heartworm tested, and dewormed, Her adoption fee is $500.

If you have meet our adoption requirements (above) we would love to hear from you. (Our e-mail address is: sylvialovesme@gmail.com) When you write, please tell us a little about yourself and what you are able to offer Violeta. Then—if we all agree that she might be a good fit for you—we will send you an adoption application and can talk about setting up a “meet and greet” get-together.

PLEASE NOTE: Violeta is presently living with her foster family in Des Plaines, Ill. (a suburb of Chicago), and this is where she can be met.
