Violet - Courtesy Cupid's Story

Violet is an incredible dog with a huge heart. She adores her people and will happily cover you in kisses, wiggles, and snuggles. She's goofy, joyful, and guaranteed to make you laugh. She's medium-to-low energy and loves nothing more than curling up on the couch under blankets (which she happily nibbles when she's extra content). Her dramatic dreams, pig snorts, and legendary snores are part of her charm.
She's smart, treat-motivated, and loves training games. We use force-free training with the marker word "good." She knows sit, stay, come, wait, leave it, and "take it nice," and continues to enjoy learning new skills.
Violet's ideal home includes a comfy couch, lots of blankets, durable chew toys, and people with plenty of time for cuddles. She'd do best with adults or older children and an owner who understands or is willing to learn about reactive dogs and positive reinforcement. She could thrive as an only dog or with a calm, low- to medium-energy canine companion after slow introductions. She loves kids but, because she's unaware of her size, small children should be supervised.
Violet was adopted from the Humane Society as a puppy and later found as a stray. She was initially shy with new people but now bonds quickly with slow introductions and treats. Once she trusts you, she's your best friend.
The only reason I'm rehoming her is that her prey drive has developed toward my cat. She cannot live with cats or other small animals, and I'm making this heartbreaking decision because both she and my cat deserve to feel safe.
Violet enjoys quiet neighborhood sniff walks. She is reactive to unfamiliar dogs and sometimes people on walks or through windows, but she has graduated from a reactive dog class and has made tremendous progress. I'll gladly share the training tools that have worked well for her.
She's spayed, up to date on vaccinations, loves the vet, and is ready for a family who will love her as much as I do. If you think you might be the right fit, we'd love to meet you.
