Violet's Story

Today we would like to introduce you to Miss Violet. Her birthday is coming up in May at which time she will be 4 years old. She was surrendered to the rescue for having some food aggression issues with her housemates. She is currently spending time with our trainer who suggests that she should not be housed with other females and would probably do best as an only dog.

Miss Violet loves children and does well with them. We have no information at the moment as to how she behaves with cats. She is a pretty lady and a sweet girl that just needs the right home in which to thrive.

Update From our trainer:

"Miss Violet has been friendly with dogs through the fence, has even sniffed noses, so yesterday we did some work around other dogs while we were in the round pen. Sigail my very, very sweet female offered a friendly neutral greeting and Violet wanted to bite her face off (she was swiftly intercepted and corrected for that) but that’s how she feels about meeting new females 😅 she is not reactive on leash in general, it’s just close face-to-face interactions.

I think Violet would do best as an only dog house long term. She hasn’t offered aggression with male dogs here, but over resources she was pretty quick to throw hands in her old house with either.

She likes me now, 😂 but she definitely prefers men. I think she will be a fairly easy dog to live with. She probably doesn’t need an expert handler. But she isn’t a dog that is going to want to socialize face to face with other dogs regularly. So no dog parks, dog bar, puppy playdates etc. She is much more responsive to obedience now, we are making progress!"
