Vinny's Story

Meet Vinny! Vinny is a 2-year-old, 38-lb Heeler mix with a huge heart and an even bigger love for snuggles. He adores giving kisses, leaning in for hugs, and staying close to his people.

Vinny is a smart boy with great manners who listens beautifully to direction. While he can still be a bit nervous outside and tends to stay on high alert during short walks down the block, he comes running the moment he hears his leash. Once outdoors, however, he can become anxious and quickly wants to return home. The good news is that he's actively working on improving his confidence and outdoor comfort.

He's fully house-trained and prefers to do his business in the yard, so he would thrive in a suburban environment with access to one. Vinny is also crate-trained-he sleeps in a locked crate at night, happily goes in when asked, and often chooses to nap in his open crate during the day. He's been left home for up to 6 hours with no accidents, no chewing, and no mischief-just peaceful naps. Quiet and relaxed during the day, Vinny would make a calm, low-maintenance companion. Vinny can be a bit skittish around men at first, but with patience and gentle interaction, he warms up over time and builds trust with everyone he meets.

Vinny isn't very food-motivated yet and can be cautious with new treats, but he's discovered a fondness for peanut butter, apples, and milk bones (enjoyed slowly and politely).

If you're looking for a gentle, affectionate sweetheart who will greet you with full-body wiggles and kisses every time you walk through the door-and who's always ready to curl up on the couch for TV time-Vinny might be your perfect match.

Vinny is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY. His adoption fee is $475.

To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
