Vinnie's Story

Bonjourno, Amici! It is myself, Vincenzo! But please call me Vinnie! I’m the Cane Corso with the coure d’oro….that means “heart of gold” to you English-speakers. I’m a big hombre with a big personality, just entering the TASP foster and adoption program after living my first four years as a gigolo. Yes, that’s right. My job was to be the, uh, “ladies man.” It was ok for awhile, but when I realized my children were not being raised right or sent to good homes, I decided to look for another kind of employer.
I’ve got so much more to offer someone who has the energy and the spirit to appreciate what a Cane Corso can do; and once I am neutered, I will never have to worry about being pressured into that old way of relating to the ladies. Now, I’m going to be the platonic companion; the bachelor who will hike the trails and swim the streams with the gioia per la vita ……..that means “joy for life,” Anglos. So many years of caged existence will now be over and exercise will bring out the muscle I have been hiding.
Let me say to you, I was raised with children so your bambinos will be slobbered on generously when I am around. But you mustn’t leave them alone with me because I’m still learning how not to accidentally step on them or knock them over. You know, the gigolo lifestyle did not give me the opportunity to practice such finesse. I do want to be a civilized gentleman, so if you teach me, I will learn. But please, teach me with firm kindness, not with the things that hurt.
Small animals I meet on my walks are safe around me as long as they don’t tease me or take the offensive. With large male dogs I am not so agreeable. You see, being large, I am the target of their need for power. They challenge me with their staring and their macho attitudes. And then I can only take so much of this. I must demonstrate why the Cane Corso is feared around the world as the protector. This is not a role I would choose but it is one I will take on if you are not a good leader.
I am molto intelligente and can be very willful if you neglect your role as my leader. But once I can respect you for your kind, firm leadership, you will find no more loyal, no more affectionate companion. If you have a lifestyle that allows for you to spend the necessary time with me to help me grow into the regal friend I’m meant to be, then consider calling for me at this number: 518-727-8591. But be warned: only those with excellent veterinary history, excellent personal references and excellent home situation should apply. I’m not for everyone but for the right home, I am magnifico!
