Vesper's Story

Vesper is a 4-year-old, 51-pound sweetheart with a calm, affectionate nature and lovely, easygoing manners. She's a joy to have around and settles in quickly, making her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a relaxed but loving dog.

Vesper is very easy out of the kennel and a breeze to harness. She knows how to sit and seems likely to learn "down" with a bit of practice, especially since she's treat motivated and takes treats gently. She truly enjoys being petted and happily leans into affection.

She's a great car rider, hopping in on her own and either sitting or lying down for the ride. When arriving somewhere new, she may let out a few excited vocalizations, clearly eager to see what's next. On leash, Vesper is a good walker and moves along calmly by your side.

During playtime, Vesper loves toys that can be tossed, especially balls. She enjoys chasing them and is perfectly content to let you retrieve the toy so the game can continue. She's more about the fun of the chase than bringing it back.

Vesper handles new environments well. She was recently calm and polite while out in public, happily meeting new people, accepting pets, and greeting familiar faces with kisses. While she didn't love bath time, she tolerated it without issue and remained nonreactive around other dogs nearby.

At home, Vesper shines as a cuddle companion. She loves snuggling on the couch, giving kisses, and relaxing right beside her person. Even during a short stay, she was calm, well-mannered, and had no accidents, suggesting she's likely house-trained.

Vesper is a gentle, affectionate, and steady presence who would do beautifully in a home that values quiet companionship, cozy couch time, and sweet moments of connection.

Vesoer has had positive interactions with other dogs. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
