Velvet's Story

This scrumptious little dumplin' is Velvetsister to Canuck, Pepperoni, and Twilight. She is a 1 year old lab/GSD mix. Smallish (about the size of a sheltie)she looks 35 lbs but weighs in at 43 lbsnot chunky, just solid. In excellent health and with a luxurious coat, Velvet is a delight. Shy and demure, but oh so funnywhen Velvet is excited (wake up time, meal time, and outdoor exploration time), she does a hilarilous upper body shimmy/lower body wiggle that will bring you to your knees smiling at her adorable antics. House-trained, not a barker, independent-but-lovable, and with a signature rear-left-paw high-five, Velvet brings amusement and character and the promise of an amazing companionship. PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Polka Dogz Pet Rescue's Adoption Policy

A homeless pet is more than one in a million—she's one in 2.7 million. That's the number of adoptable dogs and cats who are still euthanized each year in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people adopt. The number of euthanized animals could be reduced dramatically if more people adopted pets instead of buying them. When you adopt, you save your animal and open up shelter space for another animal who might need it. Polka Dogz saves these dogs from kill shelters especially the medically needy. We fix them up good as new and make them highly adoptable pets. Please support homeless pets and "adopt, don't shop, lives depend on it". We will soon have a property to call our own where people can volunteer, visit, and have a meet and greet with their potential new pet. Stay tuned.
