Velvet's Story

Personality: Happy little velveteen rabbit! She is a lover girl and loves attention. Very snuggly!

Education: Good with bathroom and working on crate and leash training.

Favorite Activities: Taking long walks, going on sniffaries at Home Depot, sunbathing in the backyard while enjoying eating snacks out of her kong, and cuddling on the couch.

Looking For: A fun and adventurous family with lots of activities with this amazing girl who loves to play and cuddle! She can be a solo dog or be with another playful dog who doesn't mind her exuberance.

Special Needs/Concerns: None

Bio: By your side through thick and thin!

Hi there! My name is Velvet, and I might just be the sweetest (and softest!) girl you'll ever meet. They don't call me Velvet for nothing! I've already been spayed- no special needs, just lots of love to give! I came from a shelter in Pasadena during some terrible fires in LA, and now I'm ready to start my next big adventure: finding my furever family!

I'm a super loyal and affectionate pup who just wants to be by your side. Whether it's snuggling on the couch after a fun play session, taking long walks, or soaking up the sun in the backyard with my Kong toy, I'm happiest when I'm with my people. And I absolutely love car rides and exploring places like Home Depot- so many fun smells and new friends to meet! I get along well with other doggy pals, but I do best with slow introductions. No kitties for me, please, and I'd prefer a home with older kiddos (15+) who understand my playful energy.

When it comes to training, I've got potty training down and am making great progress with my crate training. I do get a little excited on the leash and tend to pull at first, but once we're moving, I settle in just fine! I'm also a pro at catching treats from across the room. I have only mild separation anxiety, but overall, I aim to please and just want to make you proud!

I'd thrive as either a solo pup or with a fun-loving doggie sibling who enjoys active playtime and won't mind my enthusiasm. If you're looking for a best friend who will shower you with love, loyalty, and lots of cuddles- I'm your girl!

My adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please apply!

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
