Velcro's Story

HOW TO ADOPT: The fastest way to start is to submit an adoption application directly (labs4rescue.com/adopt). Please use our official website rather than the Petfinder "Start your Inquiry" button.

Meet Velcro! At just ten months old, this sweet boy is already proof that you can have the best of both worlds: the playful curiosity of a puppy and the remarkable good manners of a seasoned companion. True to his name, Velcro's favorite place in the entire world is right by your side, ready to fill your days with unconditional love, intelligence, and plenty of joy.

Life with Velcro is an absolute breeze, largely because he is an incredibly quick learner who is way ahead of the curve for his young age. He is already fully potty and crate trained, but his talents dont stop there. Velcro proudly knows his name, "Sit," "Touch," and "Down." Perhaps his most impressive party trick, though, is his polite communication stylewhen he needs to head out into the yard, he simply rings a bell to let you know.

When he isn't showing off his big brain, Velcro is busy being the ultimate social butterfly. He genuinely loves every single human he meets, possessing a magical ability to charm almost every passerby into stopping for a quick hello and a belly rub. He is equally enthusiastic about his canine peers and would like nothing more than to play with every single pup in the neighborhood. He regularly romps with the neighbor's dog and, while his puppy enthusiasm can be a little exuberant for some doggie friends, his heart is pure gold and he is always incredibly gentle.

Velcro is a beautifully balanced, chill boy who seamlessly transitions from high energy to total relaxation. He is always down for an adventure, whether that means going for a walk, mastering a new trick, or chasing a ball during a game of fetch. He also takes his self-appointed role on "squirrel patrol" very seriouslya passionate hobby that means he will do best in a home without any feline friends (he has a high prey drive for squirrels so we think it is best to keep any creatures other than dogs out of his future home).

But at the end of the day, when the toys are put away, Velcros true superpower comes to light: he is a certified, five-star snuggler. He is looking for a forever family who has the time to continue his training and socialization, and who will patiently love him as he finishes growing into his big paws. If you have room in your heart and your couch for a loyal, smart, and deeply affectionate companion, Velcro is ready to stick to you for life! He is currently around 44 lbs., but that will increase as he ages. Velcro hasn't lived with children but has been cordial to children that he has met while out on walks. His ideal home is one where he will have an active family who will take him on long walks or play with him inside a fenced in yard. Although a canine sibling is not required, he would likely enjoy a playful canine sibling. When a squirrel crosses his path, his puppy excitement takes over, so his future human should have a strong, steady grip on the leash to handle his enthusiasm. Luckily, he does respond to correction quickly! Velcro is a gem you shouldn't pass up!

QUESTIONS: For additional information about Velcro please email Jennifer Vargas: jennifer.vargas@labs4rescue.org

BEFORE YOU APPLY: Please review our "Adopt a Lab" page (labs4rescue.com/adopt) and our Sample Adoption Contract.
