Vanilla Bean's Story

Vanilla Bean ~3-year-old female yellow Lab mix Spayed 50-lbs

Background.
Vanilla Bean lived her whole life in her owner's front yard watching the world go by... and was not allowed inside the home. She started escaping (through open gates) and wandering the neighborhood -- and then was returned to the yard by neighbors. She was eventually taken in by a neighbor but escaped that yard too... and made her way back to her original home who no longer wanted her. More neighborhood walkabouts resulted in being picked up by neighbors and she was taken to the local shelter. A good Samaritan (who lives in that same neighborhood) volunteers at the shelter and spotted her... and took her home as she was quite stressed out at the shelter and on the path toward being euthanized. She remains with this caretaker temporarily as we search for a new home for her.

Leash walk with Vanilla Bean -- https://youtu.be/9nhJFumylQU

Vanilla Bean romping with other dogs -- https://youtu.be/BSU8-ZTZ9X4

Vanilla Bean enjoying the park -- https://youtu.be/OWUI9aA94xs

What Vanilla Bean's current caretaker says.
Vanilla Bean is very friendly and social with people. House-broken. Not crate-trained. She spends most of the day inside the house -- and loves it. She likes to ride in the car and loves to fetch. We walk her once or twice each day. She has been playful with older kids. We think she is a Lab/Golden retriever mix.

What Vanilla Bean's Rescue Rep says.
I met Vanilla Bean at a park where she had a chance to socialize with other dogs... and she did great. It was clear that she had not been exposed to many other dogs, but she got right into the groove of running and playing. Did fine with the dogs she met at the park per the attached videos.

She does not like her rear end touched -- wonder if she was hit there in the past as punishment, we just don't know. Vanilla Bean would do best in a home with a yard... but where she is NOT left alone (or left in the backyard) for long hours.

Presence of another dog should be fine. No idea how she is with cats. Best that she NOT go to a home with young children due to the sensitivity of her back side.

Medical.
Vanilla Bean is current on Rabies and distemper vaccinations. She appears to be in good health. Spayed and microchipped.

Vanilla Bean is located in: Sacramento.

If you might want to adopt Vanilla Bean, please contact Rescue Rep Dave at david.c.ely@sbcglobal.net
