Meet the one and only Valkyrie! Valkyrie's story is as unique as they come. This spunky 2-year-old, weighing about 17 pounds, was found wandering the streets of South LA and ended up at the shelter looking a little rough around the edges. Poor Valkyrie was dealing with a painful rectal prolapse and needed urgent medical care, so the shelter reached out to us for help. Of course, we said yes and the rest is history!<br/><br/>Here's where things get really interesting. When Valkyrie went in for their spay and to repair the prolapse, everyone expected a routine spay. But surprise! The vet discovered that Valkyrie is intersex meaning their outer anatomy looked female, but internally, they had male reproductive organs. It doesn't cause any ongoing health concerns, it just makes Valkyrie that much more special!<br/><br/>Their surgery (a colopexy) went beautifully, and with regular care and a balanced diet to keep their digestion healthy, Valkyrie is expected to live a totally normal, happy life.
