Valerie's Story

Valerie is a sweet 8-year-old Coton de Toulear mix being fostered in Waterloo.
She was released into our care from a breeding facility where she was used to
produce puppies for profit. Her soft white coat will require grooming, but she is
tolerant of being brushed and handled. She weighs 24 lbs. Valerie has had her
spay operation and has had a dental cleaning. She is vaccinated and
microchipped. Her overall health is good, and she was cooperative at the
veterinary hospital. She trusts people but is wary of energetic younger dogs. She
enjoys being pet and will roll over for a belly rub. She is very gentle and quiet
around the house, usually preferring to be tucked away in her dog bed observing
the activity of the home. Her new owner will need to be very patient as she
becomes accustomed to her new surroundings. She can be left for several hours
on her own in the house and is not destructive. With encouragement at regular
intervals, Valerie goes outside for her bathroom breaks. She is eating a meal of
kibble twice a day and enjoys treats. Valerie sleeps peacefully in her
dog bed through the night. She does not jump onto furniture or know how to use stairs. She
would be fine being the only dog or sharing a home with another dog of similar or
smaller size and age. Her preferred home would be with someone who is home
part of the day and willing to work with her on her journey to becoming a pet.
Valerie is looking forward to being a wonderful companion and a beloved
member of her forever family.
