If you're looking for a soft, smooshy, people-loving companion with a playful side and a talent for making herself part of whatever you're doing, Valentine may be your girl.<br/><br/>Val is a true velcro dog. She loves following her people around the house, curling up nearby, sunbathing, going for car rides, and being included in everyday life. She's happiest when she's with her humans, whether that's taking a leisurely walk, running an errand, or simply hanging out together. She's also wonderfully affectionate and tolerant—she'll happily let you get right up in her face for kisses and snuggles.<br/><br/>She's a moderately energetic girl who enjoys both relaxing and playing. She loves rubbery chew toys, chasing a bouncy ball, and playing tug. She very much enjoys interactive play and being part of the fun. She's rarely hyper and is just as happy to settle down afterward.<br/><br/>Val is house-trained and does very well with a consistent potty routine. She happily hangs out in her crate and she's been a dream for baths, teeth brushing, and nail clipping. She's also remarkably low-drool for a bulldog.<br/><br/>She's been wonderful with her foster family's 7-year-old nephew, calmly sitting beside him and waiting for affection. She's also comfortable meeting new people and has done very well accompanying her foster on errands and visiting stores on leash.<br/><br/>Val is smart, food-motivated, and full of personality. She's learning her manners, including remembering not to jump up when she's excited, and she may need a gentle reminder to take treats gently when she gets enthusiastic. She's also got a funny attention-seeking streak and has been known to theatrically pick up items she's not supposed to have, trot over to her crate, and then watch to see if anyone notices. She's not destructive—she just knows how to make a point. <br/><br/>Val is very people-oriented and would likely be happiest as the only dog in her home. She doesn't always enjoy close interaction with other dogs and is happiest when she can have her own space, so we're looking for a home that can give her the peaceful environment and individual attention she deserves. Her comfort around other dogs may continue to develop with the right environment and training, but an only-dog home is our current preference.<br/><br/>Val is currently completing heartworm treatment. She has two shots remaining and is expected to be able to join a new home by mid October. For now, she needs a calm lifestyle with restricted activity while she completes treatment BUT she would love to meet you and get pre-adopted! <br/><br/>Valentine is an all-around good girl with a huge heart, a wonderfully soft face, and so much love to give. We think her future family is going to feel very lucky to have her.
