She survived by eating off the land and doing everything in her power to avoid people. In February 2025, Noahs Hope was called to help catch her — and once she was finally safe, we quickly discovered something pretty special. Valen is a really nice girl. She just wants her peace.<br/>She isnt the dog who is going to demand to be the center of attention or climb into every strangers lap. After spending her first two years depending only on herself, Valen learned that she likes having choices.<br/>In her foster home, she has an always-open doggie door and a securely fenced backyard, and she loves being able to come and go as she pleases. She spends a lot of time outside, enjoying her space and keeping an eye on the world around her.<br/><br/> Valen DOES like other dogs! She loves playing chase, and having other dogs around has helped her become braver when trying new things. We truly believe her ideal home would have another friendly, confident dog that she can buddy up with and learn from.<br/>Now, we do need to discuss one of Valens special talents... The girl can DIG! If digging were an Olympic sport, Valen would probably have a medal. A secure yard is going to be extremely important for her.<br/>She will also alert you when there is activity outside the fence — she is a German Shepherd, after all! — but when it comes to people, Valen really isnt looking for their attention. Shes perfectly happy coexisting without needing to be fussed over. Valen needs a special kind of adopter. Someone patient. Someone who wont expect her to become a social butterfly. Someone who understands that loving a dog sometimes means allowing them to feel safe on their terms. Someone with a securely fenced yard and, ideally, a dog who would enjoy having Valen as a buddy.<br/><br/>She has already survived on her own. She has learned that a house can be safe, food will always be there, and some humans can be trusted. Now we would really love for her to have something she has never had before...
