Vakita's Story

Vakita is an 8-month-old Labrador mix who's currently about 27 pounds of puppy sweetness and growing. This adorable girl is the total package: sweet, affectionate, and incredibly easy to love. She may take a minute to warm up to new people, so slow introductions are best, but once she decides you're a friend, she'll happily stick close by your side—Velcro-close. She loves being with her people, but she's also mature enough to relax when left alone and doesn't fall apart when you're out of sight.

For a young puppy, Vakita has some pretty impressive credentials. She loves kids, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and is good with cats too. Basically, her philosophy is, "Why not be friends with everyone?" That said, she can be leash-reactive when she sees other dogs, so she'll benefit from continued training and positive, controlled introductions while out on walks.

She's currently working on potty training and is making great progress every day. Vakita does well in her crate and settles in nicely when you're away. If you're home, though, she'd much rather be hanging out with her favorite people than watching the fun from behind crate bars. Like any puppy, she's still learning the rules, but she's doing wonderfully. Even better? She hasn't been destructive.

When she's not learning new things, Vakita's favorite activities include cuddling, hanging out with her people, and being generally adorable. She's the kind of puppy who can play when it's time to play, then happily curl up beside you when it's time to relax.

If you're looking for a sweet, family-friendly puppy with a loving personality, a gentle heart, and a bright future ahead of her, Vakita is ready to pour a little extra happiness into your life.

If you are interested in finding out more about Vakita, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser:

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog

Vakita is being fostered in Worcester, MA.

The adoption fee is $600.

Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!.

Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram!

Broken Tail Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process Broken Tail Rescue is looking for responsible and caring people to give a dog or cat their much-needed second chance at happiness. To adopt from us, you must first complete an application, which you can complete online here: https://www.brokentailrescue.org/adopt/ Once we receive your application, the foster parent or application team will be in touch with you within a few days to discuss the application and the pet you are applying for. If the pet is a good match for your family, you will then be asked to meet the pet at the foster parent’s home, if applicable, or come to one of our cat adoption centers during our adoption hours. We ask that all members of the household come out to meet the pet. If you are applying for a dog, all current dogs in the household need to come meet the dog as well. If the animal is a good fit for your home (canines only), we will then check your references. We ask for two personal references and the name of the vet that you currently use or have used in the past. The last step in the adoption process is the home visit (canines only). We just want to make sure your home is generally a safe place for the pet to live and confirm the address listed on the application. After the home visit, the adoption can be completed! Paperwork is completed at the foster home, and you can take home your new pet! While the process may seem extensive, it generally is not a long, drawn-out process – we can move as quickly as schedules allow, and most adoptions are completed in under a week. However, we feel it is important to take time to make sure we are matching the pet to the correct home. We would hate for a pet to be returned to us because of a hasty decision. Adoption Guidelines The following are just a few initial guidelines you should consider before deciding to adopt: Some adoptions will require adopters to enroll the dog in training classes as a condition of adoption There may be additional adoption requirements for puppies (puppy socialization classes, someone home during the day, etc.) Renters must have landlord’s permission Adopters must be 21 years of age or older All adoptive homes must be stable, supportive, and capable and willing to meet all financial and veterinary needs of the animal Adoption Fees Adoption fees help defray the cost of transportation, care, and medical treatment. Dogs Our adoption fees are generally between $300 and $400 for most adult dogs and puppies and are decided on a case-by-case basis. All dogs adopted from Broken Tail Rescue will be spayed or neutered, receive a veterinary exam, be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and started on preventive, dewormed, given flea and tick treatment if needed, and microchipped. Cats Our adoption fee varies by age for cats and kittens: 1 Kitten (under 12 months): $350 2 Kittens: $650 1 Young Cat (1-4yrs): $275 2 Young Cats: $500 1 Adult Cat (5-9 yrs): $225 2 Adult Cats: $400 Senior (10+ yrs): $150 Special Needs Cat: $150 or TBD 2 Senior or Special Needs: $250 or TBD All cats adopted from Broken Tail Rescue will be spayed or neutered, receive a veterinary exam, be up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV tested, dewormed, given flea and tick treatment, and microchipped.
