Union Pacific's Story
- Spent time in a foster home and did very well - his foster family said their favorite way to play with him was to toss a stuffed animal in the air and watch him try to catch it, then after a few rounds of that he just wanted to cuddle

- Gets bursts of energy and would occasionally do zoomies in the house, but he mostly liked to be a lap dog

- Slept in bed at night with his foster family and was not restless at all

- Sometimes had big feelings when people knocked on the door or rang the doorbell or when there was lots of stimuli outside, but otherwise his foster family said he was a perfect houseguest

- Knows sit and likes treats

- Was fully housetrained in his foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to adjust to a new schedule

- Did well with the dog in his foster home; can be a bit of a linebacker when playing and will likely do best with like-minded dog friends (dog intro recommended)

- We don't know his history with children, but we think he may do best in a home with more mature family members

- We don't know his history with cats

This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
