UMA DID NOT DESERVE TO BE DUMPED!! Meet Uma Furman (AKA Uma Thurman), a tiny 4 year old and 10 lb Yorkie Maltese mix with a sweet soul and a touch of Hollywood sparkle! Sadly, she was found abandoned in Compton alongside her puppy and another dog believed to be her sister, with no collar, tag, or microchip. A good Samaritan took them in, hoping to find their owner. After posting about them online and no one came forward, it became clear they had been dumped. Shelter Hope heard her story and took in the entire little family. (We are happy to report her puppy has since been adopted!) We got Uma fixed, vaccinated and microchipped right away. At the clinic they discovered she has a heart murmur, but she takes it like a champ! When Uma first came in she was understandably very shy and shut down, but in the past few weeks we’ve seen such a wonderful transformation in her! Uma is now a bubbly, outgoing, and active little girl who absolutely loves attention. She’s truly the definition of sweet. She's happy, snuggly, and quietly affectionate. She also enjoys relaxing in her cozy dog bed and gets along beautifully with other dogs. Uma Furman is ready for the spotlight! Shelter Hope Pet Shop's Adoption Policy

Shelter Hope is operating by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Dogs are only brought into the shop if an application to meet the dog is approved and an appointment is made. More about our process: STEP 1: APPLICATION If you're interested in adopting, please fill out a rescue questionnaire. Please be thorough in your answers. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. Be ready to adopt, as adoptions can happen quickly. Only apply for dogs that every family member agrees on, and wait to submit your application until after your vacation. STEP 2: PHONE INTERVIEW If your application is approved, our rescue counselor will contact you for a phone interview. Please be patient, as this process may take several days. Due to the high volume of applications, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we often interview multiple candidates before selecting the best match and scheduling an adoption appointment. STEP 3: ADOPTION APPOINTMENT The appointment is a meet-and-greet at our shop at the Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks. If you choose to adopt, the process is completed with an adoption fee and a signed contract. Adoptions include: - 10% off training at Zoom Room Thousand Oaks - A free day at doggy daycare at Barks N' Rec - A free grooming at Indiana Bones - A free check-up with Slaton Veterinary Hospital - A free 30 minute visit from Valley Pet Sitting - A free collar, tag, harness & leash As well as all the vaccines they've had thus far, the microchip, and the spay/neuter. And most importantly, the lasting reward of saving a life and welcoming a new member into your family!
