Ulysses German Shepherd Dog Mix Huntsville, AL

My name is Ulysses. I’m a one year old German Shepard mix. I’m a sleek 65lbs. My foster mom says I’m smart and sweet...and she’s right! She thinks I was tied up most of my former life and fed exclusively human food. But over the last few weeks I’ve adjusted to good-quality dog food and made good progress on learning a few basic commands.
I love, love, love people and when I’m inside I like to be in the same room as one, or all, of them. I also love being outside and consider it to be my mission to rid the garden of any vermin. With training I might make a great hunting companion. I’m a leash-puller, but I’m great with a halter and leash. I haven’t spent a lot of time with other dogs, but with some guidance I could probably settle in with another medium-large friend. (But probably not small animals.) I love to play with my jumbo tennis balls, but am not very interested in other toys
I’m very quiet and don’t bark very often (not even at the doorbell) unless another dog starts barking at me. I’m housebroken and I stay off the furniture. I’ve never been destructive and my foster family can leave me alone in the house for a few hours without concern. I’m also fine overnight on the main floor while they sleep upstairs. However, I dislike the crate so much that they were afraid I would hurt myself breaking out.
I’ve had my shots, tested negative for heartworm, been neutered, and microchipped.
