Tyson's Story

Do you have a soft spot for grumpy old men? Is Oscar the Grouch your favorite Sesame Street character? Do you believe love is worth earning? Then Tyson may be your perfect match!

Tyson (yes, named after Mike Tyson) is a 16+ year-old, 5-pound Chihuahua with a big personality. After spending his entire life with one owner, hes adjusting to life in his experienced Chihuahua foster home, where hes treated like the tiny king he is.

Tyson gets along well with the other dogs but prefers his own comfy bed and personal space. Hes happy living with adults and teenagers, but hes definitely not a velcro lap dog. His foster moms routine involves a brief game of catch the Chihuahua (complete with a few dramatic air bites), then holding him until he relaxes. Once he decides youre acceptable, hell happily nap on your lap or beside you on the couch.

Hes also a foodie—with very specific opinions. Fancy wet food, salmon, and filet mignon? Hard pass. His favorites are prescription k/d kibble, rotisserie chicken, H-E-B chicken nuggets, pizza crust (plain, please), and the occasional stolen Goldfish cracker. When hes hungry, hell follow his humans into the kitchen with his tail wagging.

Tysons hearing and eyesight arent what they once were, but he still loves making eye contact with his people. And while he prefers not to be handled, hes been an absolute angel for baths and nail trims—and always celebrates with adorable post-bath zoomies.

Tyson enjoys going outside in the backyard for potty breaks where he likes to bask in the sun and sometimes roll in the grass.

Tyson isnt looking for constant attention. Hes looking for someone who understands that the best relationships are built on patience, respect, and a little humor. If youd love to give this delightfully opinionated little gentleman the retirement he deserves, Tyson is waiting to meet you.
