Tyson's Story
Tyson, a sweet, 70-pound Great Pyrenees mix puppy expected to top out around 80-90 pounds, is housebroken, crate-trained, and ready for his forever home. This mid-level energy pup enjoys a daily mix of playing with other dogs and snoozing on the couch. His most impressive trait is his calm demeanor, which is particularly evident in public. His foster dad describes him as a “bomb-proof, take-anywhere kind of pup.”

Tyson is a gentle and polite soul with a quiet confidence that quickly emerges after a short initial shyness. He’s calm and well-behaved around children of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers, eventually showing his playful side as he gets more comfortable. He loves cats and enjoys playing with them, though he can be a little over-enthusiastic at times. With other dogs, especially younger ones, his puppy energy comes to life, and he’ll happily play for hours.

Tyson is housebroken, crate trained, and sleeps soundly through the night. He knows “sit,” “down,” and “lay down” and has a charming habit of “sploofing” (extending his back legs behind him) when he lies down. He is happy to receive affection but isn’t overly needy, preferring a quiet nuzzle or head scratch every now and then. Tyson enjoys staying right by his foster dad’s side, often following him around the house in a show of loyalty and sweet companionship.

If you’d like to be considered to adopt, the first step in the process is to submit an application through our website: http://athenscaninerescue.com/adoption-procedures/. Our adoption fee is $250 per dog over the age of 6 months and $300 per dog 6 months or younger. We accept payment by Venmo, PayPal, or card.

This includes: basic vet care (i.e. basic vaccinations, including boosters completed after adoption, spay/neuter, heartworm/flea preventatives, and treatment for any health needs while in our care), a microchip, a week’s worth of food for the trial-period, and a harness lead.

All in state applications will be considered with some preference given to more local applications. WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING OUT OF STATE APPLICATIONS FOR DOGS SIX MONTHS OR YOUNGER.

We do not have a facility and operate through a network of foster homes. Thus, we do not have a phone number. If you’d like to discuss potential adoptions, please email at adopt@athenscaninerescue.com.
