Tyra's Story

This beautiful girl is TYRA and she is an adorable Lab and Hound mix who is 1-2 years old and weighs only 36 pounds although we think she could easily add another 5 pounds. As you can see in her photos, she has such a pretty white coat with tan mixed in. She is very sweet and has a medium - low energy level. She plays lovely with other dogs and is happy to follow the instead of being the 'alpha girl'! She is living with a Foster family and enjoys taking walks in the neighborhood and loves playing and relaxing in their backyard. We know she'll be a lovely family dog and be so happy to give and receive lots of love. She'd love a fenced backyard and a doggie sibling would make her so happy but she could easily be a solo dog with a loving and active family. Tyra is healthy, spayed, up to date on all her vaccinations, house-trained and crate trained. She's really a perfect girl Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more info on this sweet girl!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
