Tyler's Story

Meet Tyler, or as his friends call him, Ty!

Ty is a 1 year old, handsome, fun loving 55 pound boy with a beautiful shiny coat. He is new to our program and is already blossoming into the dog he was meant to be.

In his foster home, every day is a new adventure. At first he was scared to get in the car and the sight of a leash or collar would send him running in the opposite direction. Now Ty enjoys car rides and patiently stands still to get his gear on for his morning walk! He also loves playing endless games in the yard with his 3 yr old foster brother.

His foster parents learned that Ty is able to jump a 3 ft dog gate with ease. Thankfully, he has never attempted to jump the backyard 5ft+ fencing. He learned from his foster brother how much fun it is to run through the backyard agility tunnel. Now he can't get enough of it and even leaps over the tunnel too! He might be a good candidate for agility training or scent work. He has an excellent sense of smell and can sniff out food from quite a distance. No food can be left on the counters or he will find it!

Ty is good with people and has quickly gained confidence when meeting strangers. He has a very playful, affectionate and sweet personality. He loves other dogs, but no cats for this boy as he does have prey drive. Ty has a great alarm bark but does not nuisance bark. He does try to guard his toys and sometimes even attempts to bury them in the backyard for later!

We believe he would do best in a home with another playful dog and patient human(s) that are mostly home and able to devote time to his training. His fosters are currently working with him on basic obedience, crate training and leash manners. He understands his crate is a safe place and will go in and out, but does not like the door latched. He hasn't shown destructive behavior in the house, but he will test his humans every now and then with his mischievous and humorous acts.

Come meet your new adventure buddy at an Adoption Day soon!
