Ty's Story

Ty is an active boy who has spent his first year and a half in two different homes. We know nothing of his previous history as he was turned in to another rescue and they in turn contacted us. They did not get any records or information on the dog. All we were told is that he is about 18 months old and spent 8 months with his first owner, who then traded him for a yorkie puppy and he went to the yorkie breeder's home for another 8 months. We have repeated tried to contact her for more information on him, but she will not return our inquires.

What we do know about Ty is that he is a young, energetic, happy boy who has had very little training and probably little attention. He can be mouthy at times and needs to have this behavior corrected. He loves to give kisses and will soak up any attention and time you are willing to share with him. He tolerates other dogs but not when he is in his crate, then he becomes protective. For this reason we are looking for a home without other animals and about 15 years or older age kids. His new family needs to be very comfortable and committed to dog training to help Ty learn how to be the best boy ever. He will be finishing up his last round of vaccinations this week. We had to treat this guy as if he was a stray and start over with his vet program since we have no previous vet history.

Ty can be clingy, loves to be by his people as much as possible. A fence would be best as he needs to have room to play ball, one of his favorite activities. Probably very little previous history with the leash, he is learning to enjoy walks at a calmer pace and would do well with a harness. Car rides are also new to him, and he can be antsy, but is getting better with short rides.

He is neutered and microchipped. He has received bordetella, rabies, his distemper series along with lyme. Heartworm tested, thank goodness a negative result, he is on both preventatives Heartgard and also Nexgard for flea and tick control. His fecal sample did show whipworms and he received his first round of meds and is due to start the second round in a couple weeks to resolve this. He came to us shaved, probably due to matting. Ty had both ears infected, meds have resolved that, but getting his ears cleaned is not his favorite thing.

Everything about this dog is workable if you are willing to take the time and effort to see him blossom. He needs to learn his role and discover his purpose in his new home. Come out and take a visit with him and see if you want this boy to become your "my Ty".
