TWINKY's Story

When you call him, Twinky will come running to you wagging his fluffy tail. He’s an excellent copilot in the car, and his favourite hobby is running up and down stairs in between getting all of the pets and belly rubs. Twinky’s soft, fluffy, and sweet just like his namesake.

Twinky responds differently with all dogs; these reactions range from calm to defensive (barking and growling), to being completely indifferent towards them; to demonstrating bossy/dominant behaviour (humping and paws on top of the other dog). Although he does seem to do best with smaller dogs, a proper introduction is recommended for big dogs. Twinky just might be an empath… don’t you think?

As for humans, Twinky’s cautious of strangers, and when he goes on walks, he will bark or growl at them if they pass by. He’s quite timid, and does get scared of unknown noises and can be nervous in new situations. He’ll bark when he sees people walking by, and when the doorbell rings, but is otherwise quite quiet.

Twinky can be nervous and needs time adjusting to new humans, and once he’s decided that your company is good, he’ll have no issues spending time with you. Twinky’ll follow you around everywhere once you’re one of his people, and will make it known when he wants pets or treats. He also makes for a great lounge partner.

All things considered, Twinky’s considered a medium energy dog who is currently receiving two 45-60 minute walks a day plus two short 15-minute walks. He loves playing ball and doing puzzles indoors and this is great stimulation for him. Funny enough, Twinky is very food motivated, and is easily trainable. Twinky’s been working on his commands. He comes when he’s called, and is potty trained, but needs to work on sitting for his dinner and is okay in his crate so long as he’s lured in with a treat. He does have a habit of jumping on/at people when he’s seeking their attention, but with practice this can likely be curbed along with his barking tendencies as he does listen to “NO.”

“Twinky would do well with any loving family. He can do well in any environment with a little training. He can be energetic at times so he will need a family that can let him spend his energy but he has no issues with sitting by us while we work…He chases birds in his dreams and does cute little gurgles noises when he is super into chewing his favorite watermelon squishy toy. We love Twinky! He is a super sweet and a fun dog and has a lot of love to give.” – Twinky’s Foster Family
