Tweedy's Story

Meet Tweedy: A Sweet, Sensitive Young Pup Looking for a Forever Home!

At just 1 year old and 45lbs, Tweedy became available at the shelter in March 2026 after arriving as a stray with some of his littermates. Like many young dogs navigating the shelter environment, Tweedy was understandably nervous and overwhelmed at first. He was described as shy, anxious, and stressed in the kennel setting, but underneath it all he showed a friendly and gentle nature that began to emerge once he had time to warm up to people. In playgroups, Tweedy displayed a gentle and dainty play style and was tolerant around other dogs, especially enjoying playful moments with fellow soft and polite pups.

Now in foster care, Tweedy’s personality is slowly blossoming. His foster describes him as soft, timid, goofy, and incredibly loving once he feels safe and settled in. He is crate trained and rests quietly in his crate, and he’s been working on loose leash walking and building confidence with new people. While he can be timid around unfamiliar humans at first, he warms up when given patience and kindness. Tweedy loves other dogs and has been doing well around cats so far, including his foster’s kitten. One of his favorite goofy habits is squirming around on the floor as if he’s taking a little bird bath.

We believe Tweedy would thrive in a patient and understanding home that can continue helping him build confidence at his own pace. Another friendly dog could be a wonderful source of comfort and companionship for him, though he may also do well as a solo pup with adopters committed to gentle structure and socialization. With his medium energy level, Tweedy would likely enjoy a balance of walks, playtime, enrichment, and lots of cozy downtime with his people.

What You Should Know About Tweedy:

- A sweet 1-year-old, 45lb pup looking for a loving forever family to help him continue coming out of his shell

- Gentle, goofy, and sensitive temperament with a loving side that shines once he feels safe

- Might be a great match for someone who enjoys helping shy dogs gain confidence and wants a soft, loyal companion by their side

- Could enjoy being an adventure and/or errand buddy as he builds confidence and has more experiences out in the world

To meet Tweedy, please fill out an adoption form on dogcoaltionla.org/adopt and follow @dogcoaltionla and his foster @recnpups for updates!
