Tuxedo's Story

COURTESY POST- MEET TUXEDO (aka Tux, aka Tuxedo Thomas)

We have not met this dog, but are sharing his information for a friend of the rescue who took him in when his first owner abandoned him. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccines. He is being fostered in Wyandotte, MI, but his foster mom is willing to drive to meet the right family. His adoption fee is $50.

Tuxedo is a handsome young gentleman with a giant blocky head and a goofy personality. This sweet boy is the total package- playful when it is time for fun, calm when it is time to relax, and happiest when he is close to his people. Like many of the dogs helped by Mitten Mutts, Tux is the definition of a couch companion. He enjoys hanging out with his family, watching out the window, lounging during movie nights, and simply being wherever his humans are. He has normal bursts of playful energy in the mornings and evenings, then settles down quickly and is content to relax.

This smart boy is eager to learn and highly food-motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. He already knows commands like sit, down, and wait, and he is excited to keep learning with a family who will continue helping him grow. Tuxedo Thomas gets along well with other dogs and currently enjoys playing and wrestling with a female dog in his foster home. He has also spent time with children and especially enjoys hanging out with them- whether playing or relaxing together. He would do well as an only dog or with a canine companion. He has been around cats, but does have some prey drive and curiosity, so any feline introductions should be slow and supervised. Once corrected, he tends to mind his business.

Tux is crate-trained, housebroken, and rides nicely in the car. He also walks well on a leash. A fenced yard would be ideal, but not required for the right home. He loves toys, especially plush toys he can proudly destroy, and he has even been known to enjoy a little soccer.

Tuxedo Thomas would make an amazing family dog, loyal best friend, or loving companion for someone ready to welcome a wonderful dog into their life. He has spent his life in a home environment and would do best staying in one, where he can continue to feel safe, loved, and part of the family.
