Tulip's Story

Tulip was one of the dogs confiscated from a breeder on the Western Slope. When they were taken into rescue they were so matted and overgrown that you really couldnt tell their head from their tail. Groomers removed an average of over a pound of fur from each of the dogs! Tulip has beautiful deep black fur, is about 4 years old and weighs about 11 pounds. These dogs were horribly neglected and lived outside. Tulip is very timid, but will allow her foster mom to pick her up and hold her or place Tulip on her lap. She gets along well with other dogs and will run around with them in an outdoor fenced area. She is a bit barky and not good on a leash, so no apartments or condos.

Tulip is making good progress in getting over her fears, but it will be a long process. Can you help her? She really needs an existing companion dog to teach her how to be a fun loving pet, but she would love to learn. She likes having people company, so she would love to be adopted by a retired person or couple, or someone who works from home like her foster Mom. We suggest that a potential adopter have previous experience with a puppy mill survivor.

Tulip is spayed, she is up to date on her vaccinations (rabies, distemper and kennel cough), vet checked, heartworm tested negative and on preventative while in rescue, and microchipped. She had a dental when she came into rescue and lost most of her teeth due to the breeders neglect. She can eat moistened kibble and loves canned food. If you would like to meet Tulip, go to www.cominischnauzerrescue.com and complete the on-line adoption application.
