Tuki's Story

Tuki has had a rough start in life. Originally adopted to an older gentleman, she only knew him for the first six months of her life. When he passed away, she ended up at a shelter and was sent to Canada with a rescue organization and was then adopted out. As much as her current guardians love her, their home isn't the ideal environment for her-very busy, noisy construction and plenty of loud trucks. She is constantly stressed and the difficult decision to re-home her was made. The adopting rescue is no longer operational and the only solution they offered was to return Tuki to Korea where her future will be bleak indeed. Tuki is currently now in a calm foster home and slowly adjusting to everything new and slowly adapting.

Tuki is shy and fearful but very much wants to be close to someone. She is interested in learning and does so very quickly. Tuki is extremely intelligent.

Tuki is low maintenance in the home as she does not need constant attention; she likes to sit near someone while they work, or she will sit at a distant and observe what you’re doing.

She explores her indoor surroundings on her own, very tentatively and is very quiet in the home. She barks if she hears someone close to the door but doesn't ‘charge’ at anyone walking in.

Loud unexpected noises scare Tuki. If inside when a loud noise or unexpected movement occurs, she will go inside of her crate, which is her safe space. If outside and a loud noise occurs, she will bolt home.

Once leashed, she is happy to be outside if there are no loud noises, trucks, or anything moving past her too fast. She has shown she enjoys sniffing, doing her ‘bunny hop’ in snow and tall grass.

Getting her outside is a bit of a challenge but once leashed, she has shown she enjoys the outdoors. On her walks, Tuki ‘minds her own business’ – she walks past dogs without reacting and walks past people without interest.

A quiet home with a yard or country home will serve her best.
