Anyone who meets him does quickly discover this big guy has no idea how big he is... He genuinely believes he’s a lap dog! And they love him for it.

He is incredibly loving with the people he trusts and loves cuddles, kisses, belly rubs, toys, and car rides. He has an especially close bond with a teenager in his foster home.

Tug does have a protective personality and tends to feel more comfortable around women. He becomes a bit anxious around men, so he would do best with someone patient who understands that he needs time to build trust.

He is moderate-to-high energy and would do best in an active home-- on give he will need exercise, structure, attention, and plenty of affection. He is already crate trained and comfortable in his kennel at night or when left home alone.

A few important things about Tugboat:
He cannot be with kitty cats, so a cat-free home will be a firm requirement.
He can be reactive toward dogs while on a leash. He's never gotten into a scuffle, but will do best with an experienced handler who understands dog reactivity.
Small dogs can be possible with an extremely slow and structured introduction. (It took approximately six months, but has successfully become comfortable and integrated with a Bichon in his current foster home)
He has never allowed him around small children, but does well with dog savvy teens.

Tug is sweet and funny, but he is a big, strong, affectionate dog who needs someone willing to respect his boundaries, and continue working with him to give him the structure and patience he needs.

In the right home, he is a goofy, cuddly, loyal companion who will happily convince you that a 65-lb dog absolutely belongs in your lap!

If you are interested in meeting this dog, please visit our website for our online application www.underdogaz.com

DID YOU KNOW?: All of Underdog's animals are fully vetted prior to adoption, including spay/neutered, and vaccinated against distemper/parvo and rabies. All of our pets are placed into loving, caring foster homes until they are adopted. This is so they have been fully acclimated to a home environment prior to going to a new family. They are typically fully housebroken, leash trained, crate trained, and know basic commands. All potential adopters are required to complete an Adoption Application, review and sign our adoption Policies and Procedures and participate in a home visit conducted by one of our adoption representatives. Underdog allows a 14 day "Foster With Intent To Adopt" trial period, so that you can make sure that your new family member is a perfect fit before making if official!
