Tucker is a happy and energetic adult male who is ready for a new life!<br/><br/>Tucker came into rescue overweight but is losing the extra pounds easily with a proper diet and exercise. At intake, he was 31lbs; he is now 28lbs. We estimate that his ideal weight is around 20lbs. <br/><br/>He has been well trained: he knows his name and all basic commands, and is very obedient. He has excellent house manners, is housetrained, crate trained, and sleeps through the night on his own bed. He walks well on his leash at a good pace - he does bark and react to passing dogs, but he is responsive to correction. <br/><br/>Tucker has had some big changes in the last few months, but he is adjusting well to new situations and people. He is sensitive, and nervous at first but warms up once he is comfortable. Now that he is thriving on an appropriate diet and exercise routine, he needs a leader who is committed to continuing these good habits so he can stay in healthy condition: two walks per day is perfect.<br/><br/>Tucker has a great energy level for the average household: while he enjoys walks and romping around the backyard (especially when chasing squirrels!) , he can also calm down for long rests. He walks enthusiastically on leash, and has the stamina to go for longer walks as well. He is very affectionate, and loves attention and cuddles. The typical Velcro-dog, he will follow his person around and settle close. He loves the company of his people, but does not fuss about being left alone when necessary. He tolerates being crated when alone but does not really need it, as he is not destructive. <br/><br/>Tucker would not be suitable for an apartment as he is quite vocal. He barks at any new noise or arrival. He is loud but does not go on for too long, and submits to correction. <br/><br/>Tucker has a strong preference for women, and shows fearfulness of some men, requiring slow introductions on his own terms. He has been comfortable with dog-savvy teens and young adults. He would not do well with cats, and is not suitable for a first-time dog owner. <br/><br/>Tucker is up to date on vaccinations and recently had a full physical check-up at the vet.
