Tuaca's Story

Dog Name: Tuaca

Breed: Mixed

Sex: Female

Age: DOB 1/3/26

Weight: currently 8 lbs and gaining

Medical Needs: Remainder of puppy shots, and rabies once old enough. Must be spayed/neutered by the end July 2026. The appointment is included in the adoption fee at one of the clinics we use, and the foster-to-adopt family will need to email GRR to request the appointment when puppy is 18-20 weeks at the clinic closest to them. (Options are Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Georgetown.) Keeping the appointment that's assigned by the clinic will be a condition of adoption. Foster to adopt families must live within 1 hour of DE and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment.

Housebroken: nope, she's just a baby. BUT she does head to a pee pad to do her business, and is very smart so learning to go outside shouldn't take long.

Crate trained: work in progress

Good in the car: not her favorite but, she's just a baby and sits in your lap the entire time

Good on a leash: she's doesn't really understand what a leash is for, but will follow her person anywhere so she gets the point

Energy level: currently medium/puppy level

Need a fenced in yard: not yet. She will most likely be a medium-large sized dog so a yard is always helpful, but not a need.

Dog Friendly: yes

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No

Cat Friendly: yes

Kid Friendly: yes

If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any kid that understands that puppy teeth are sharp

Traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them: Tuaca is such a playful pup with lots of spice! She is confident and loving she loves to cuddle as close as possible with you. She is currently on a schedule that will get provided to her new family, that will help train her as she continues to grow.

Fosters Location: New Castle, DE

Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app)
