Tuaca's Story
Dog Name: Tuaca.

Breed: Mixed.

Sex: Female.

Age: DOB 1/3/26

Weight: currently 26lbs and gaining

Medical Needs: She will need her rabies once old enough. Must be spayed by the end July 2026. The appointment is included in the adoption fee at one of the clinics we use, and the foster-to-adopt family will need to email GRR to request the appointment when puppy is 18-20 weeks at the clinic closest to them. (Options are Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Georgetown.) Keeping the appointment that's assigned by the clinic will be a condition of adoption. Foster to adopt families must live within 1 hour of DE and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment.

Housebroken: She does great with a schedule. She will also alert by going back & forth between the door and you as well. She is a very smart little girl.

Crate trained: Yes, goes right in for a treat. She doesn't make a peep here anymore in it. She may whine or make velociraptor noises initially in her new home to test her authority but she will stop quickly.

Good in the car: Yes, she just lays down.

Good on a leash: For the most part, yes but she does let her little noise lead the way sometimes.

Energy level: Puppy energy. Play hard, nap hard.

Need a fenced in yard: Not needed but she would love it to run around freely. If not, she will need multiple walks a day to get her energy out.

Dog Friendly: Yes! Everyone is her friend.

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No.

Cat Friendly: I was told yes but have not seen first hand to speak on this — no cats in current foster home.

Kid Friendly: Yes.

If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any with proper supervision. She is currently in her piranha stage and her teeth are sharp. She may also steal a small child's toys or food. She's just a baby herself.

Traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them: Tuaca is the sweetest, most confident, ball of chaos. She is not only adorable but she's a fun loving pup. When she's not playing with allllll the toys (seriously she'll take them all!) or her friends you can catch her snoozing away. She's the definition of play hard, nap hard. She will snuggle right up next to you. She loves her Kong stuffed with easy treat, meal times and treats. She's a huge fan of belly rubs and she sounds like a velociraptor when she whines. She's looking for a fur-ever home with lots of love and patience to help her continue to learn to be a big girl. Oh and treats and toys will be a plus in her eyes. So if you think you can handle all this cuteness fill out an app today.

Fosters Location: New Castle, DE

Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app)
