Howdy from Texas! I’m Truffles. A gorgeous black 8-year-old female German Shepherd, picked up by the San Antonio City “kill” shelter as a skinny old stray dog with dry, thinning fur, and immediately set to be euthanized. Bless my lucky stars, when a picture of me was placed online, with my beautiful eyes looking so lovingly right at the camera, which caught the attention of 4 Little Paws Rescue, who saved my life that day. It turns out I just needed to be fed, and 22 pounds later, I’m 78 pounds and breathtaking.<br/><br/>My foster mom says I’m as lovely inside as I am on the outside, so deserving of a wonderful, loving forever home! I make friends easily with all humans, young and old, including strangers, other dogs, and kitty cats. I have a medium energy level, a happy attitude, and a gentle nature. I enjoy running loose on the very large property where I’m staying, never going too far and returning without needing to be called. I love being brushed and combed, getting pets, and being affectionate. My favorite family activity is going on walks and rides in the car, always ready for any outing or adventure. I’ve had a dental cleaning and some broken teeth extracted, likely from chewing on a chain at some point in my horrible past life. These days, I’m feeling great, at a healthy weight, and my coat is thick and shiny. I’m just happy to be alive, rarely bark, housebroken, and dreaming of an amazing future.
