Trixie's Story
Meet Trixie!

At just 5 months old and 32 pounds, Trixie has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should. This beautiful German Shepherd mix was found as a stray in Louisiana and taken in by a local shelter, where she finally had a chance at safety. Then, without warning, the municipality made the heartbreaking decision to permanently close the shelter, leaving the dedicated staff and volunteers scrambling to find placement for every animal before time ran out.

Thanks to the incredible support of the Bissell Pet Foundation, Furever Tails Animal Rescue was able to step in and give Trixie the second chance she so deserved. Instead of facing a tragic end through no fault of her own, this sweet girl is now searching for the loving family she has always deserved.

Despite everything she has been through, Trixie remains exactly what a puppy should be—sweet, social, curious, and full of potential. She can be a little hesitant when meeting new people or exploring unfamiliar places, but after the upheaval she's experienced, it's easy to understand why. Give her a little patience and reassurance, and you'll quickly discover the affectionate, playful puppy hiding behind those big, soulful eyes.

Like any growing German Shepherd puppy, Trixie is still figuring out the world around her. She has those adorably oversized ears, long gangly legs she's still learning to coordinate, and plenty of goofy puppy moments that are guaranteed to make you laugh. She's dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and would likely do well with respectful, dog-savvy children who understand that puppies are still learning.

Trixie is making great progress with her house manners, but as with any puppy her age—especially one with an uncertain past—her new family should expect a few accidents while she settles into a routine. She is working on crate training and will also need continued leash training, as she has had very little opportunity to learn that walking on a leash can actually be fun.

German Shepherds are incredibly intelligent, loyal, and eager to learn, making them wonderful companions for families willing to invest the time in training, socialization, and daily exercise. Trixie is at the perfect age to continue building confidence and blossom into an amazing lifelong companion.

If you're looking for a best friend to grow alongside your family, Trixie is ready to leave her difficult past behind and begin the life she has always deserved. All she needs now is a family willing to love her, guide her, and make her part of their family furever.

Trixie is:
Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies
Dewormed
Heartworm Tested: Negative
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Spayed

ADOPTION FEE: $375

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.

FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
