Trixie's Story
Name: Trixie
Breed: Terrier Mix
Sex: Spayed Female
Age: 2.5 years
Weight: 15 lbs
Animal Number: 4441

Sweet, Cuddly, Independent - Has Medical Needs

Good with dogs? Trixie is good when walking on leash. She is a bit wary of new dogs and takes some time to warm up, but then will play. She prefers dogs her own small size and is nervous around bigger dogs.

Good with cats? Yes, Trixie is great with cats!

Good with kids? Not Tested

Energy level: Low to Medium. She enjoys short walks and will play with stuffies, but mostly hangs out and chills during the day. She likes to sleep or lay in a yard.

Medical needs: Trixie has a malformation at her L4 vertebra which is most likely congenital. It can improve with medical management but may continue to flare up throughout her life. PawsCo has started Trixie on acupuncture treatments and Gabapentin, which together have proven to immensely help her mobility and comfort. Trixie needs an owner dedicated to continuing these treatments to avoid extreme pain. If any of her symptoms worsen, she may need an MRI or neurological consultation. Her owner should continue to follow up with their primary veterinarian throughout Trixies life to ensure that her treatments remain effective and that nothing more is recommended or needed for her mobility, care and comfort. She has trouble going up and down stairs and may need accommodations to get around her home.

Animal Characteristics: Trixie is very sweet and loves attention and cuddles from her people. Shes a great balance of loving yet independent. She is an old soul although shes only 2 years old. She is potty trained, and good at using a doggie door, and does not need to be crated. She would like to sleep with her human, or at least close by. Trixie is a sweet little dog with a delightful, affectionate, funny personality. She deserves an amazing forever home!

Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at www.pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process.
