Trip's Story
Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico's streets. The Meximutt Project, a BAPBR initiative, tackles this crisis at the source—through comprehensive spay/neuter programs and by connecting rescued dogs with loving Oregon families.

Since 2019: 400+ dogs adopted, 3,200+ spayed/neutered.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? Read carefully and apply at www.bapbr.org.

We’re unable to respond to Petfinder inquiries due to a system issue that prevents us from viewing them.

***************************************

Pre-Listing Notice: These puppies will be eligible for adoption flights to Portland, Oregon at the beginning of January 2026, once they reach six months of age, in accordance with CDC import regulations.

They are currently in foster care with our organization, The MexiMutt Project, in Guadalajara, Mexico. We are listing them now in hopes of finding their future adoptive families ahead of time, so they’ll have loving homes waiting for them when they’re ready to travel. We appreciate families who are willing to wait and open their hearts to give these pups the happy endings they deserve.

• NAME: Trip

• AGE: ~3 months old

• WEIGHT: ~6 lbs (and growing) We expect the puppies to be about 15-25 lbs full grown.

• BREED(S): Chihuahua - Poodle Mix (see video for the full breakdown of their breeds!)

• GOOD WITH DOGS? Yes

• GOOD WITH CATS? Yes

• GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dog’s space, belongings, and food.

• HOUSEBROKEN? No, not 100% yet -- Please keep in mind that our dogs are rescued off the streets, they are NOT always 100% housebroken and will need time and patience to adjust. Even in a foster home in Mexico, the dogs are often living in an environment with no carpet or grass or living outside. In the house, it is usually tile flooring and outside it is dirt/concrete. Most of our dogs transition well and only need about 1-2 weeks to get on a potty schedule/routine.

• LOCATION: Currently in Guadalajara foster care. 2-4 weeks to arrange flight once adoption is approved

**Meet Trip**

Someone left the most precious cargo outside a veterinarian's office near the shores of Lake Chapala—a mother dog named Tara and her four tiny babies, all tucked inside a fruit container as if they were the day's harvest. What started as an abandonment became the beginning of something beautiful: a second chance for a little family who had only each other.

These four siblings are growing fast and will be around six months old and ready for their forever homes this December, having grown from helpless babies into the kind of puppies that make you remember why dogs bring such joy to the world.

Check out the video above to see the results of the DNA test we got on these cute puppers!

**Bundles of endless joy**

"They're lovely, your typical happy-go-lucky puppies," their foster mom says with the fond exasperation that comes from loving creatures who have turned your life into a delightful chaos. "They want to chew everything, eat everything. They're just a delight—such a joy to have around."

These four have perfected the art of puppyhood. They approach each day with the infectious enthusiasm that only comes from beings who haven't yet learned that the world can be anything less than wonderful. Every shoe is a potential toy, every meal is the best meal they've ever had, and every moment is an opportunity for pure, unbridled happiness.

Their current lifestyle philosophy? Rest hard, play hard.

"They love to take early evening naps and then wake up in the middle of the night at 3 AM to have a fiesta," their foster mom laughs. "Hopefully they'll grow out of that phase soon."

**Four Precious Hearts, Four Stories Waiting**

Each of these puppies carries the same foundation—the security of growing up with their mom Tara's love and the confidence that comes from never knowing anything but kindness since their rescue. They share the same joyful approach to life, the same eagerness to explore, and the same capacity for unconditional love.

But each will develop their own unique personality, their own quirks, their own special way of making their future family laugh. As we get to know each of them better, we will share updates here!

**Ready for Their Next Chapter**

We are ready to accept applications for these adorable pups in preparation for their flights at the end of this year.

They’re ready for the next chapter of their adventure, carrying with them all the unconditional love and life lessons that their mom Tara gave them.

Are you ready to welcome Trip into your heart?

***************************************

READY TO APPLY? HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT:

Because our dogs cannot return to Mexico if there isn't a good fit, we're extra thorough in matching each dog with the right family—ensuring lifelong success for both dog and adopter.

1. Complete our online application at https://www.bapbr.org/adoption-application
2. Phone interview with founder Angela Adams if we determine there's a good fit
3. We arrange the flight to Oregon (included in fee) with weekly photo/video updates
4. Airport pickup at PDX—pay adoption fee, receive medical records, welcome your new family member home!

• Timeline: 2-4 weeks for CDC/USDA paperwork and flight arrangement once approved

• Adoption Fee: $650 includes:
Flight to U.S. • Spay/neuter • USDA import permit • Health Certificate •
All vaccines (DHLPPi, Rabies, Bordetella) • Full blood work & health tests (CBC, blood parasite tests, parvo/giardia/coronavirus test) • Flea/tick/heartwork treatment & deworming • Microchip • Grooming • Collar, leash & ID tag

• Payment: Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, or cash
Previous adopters often tell us the pre-arrival bonding process makes pickup day feel like welcoming home a family member they've been missing.

The Meximutt Project is 100% volunteer-run by a small team of dedicated animal lovers. We cannot respond to every application due to high volume, but if we think there's a good match, we'll reach out.

If you're ready to give this Meximutt the loving home they’ve been waiting for, we'd love to hear from you!
