You can purchase one at our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.

Hi there, I’m Trinity! I’m energetic, playful, super sweet, and so much fun. I’m shy and timid, too, until I get to know you, and it takes me extra time to grow comfortable and to learn to trust. Once we bond, I’ll be able to relax and live the life that was always meant for me. I’ve just had a lot of change and instability in my short life, that’s all, so these things take time. Still, if you’ll stay patient with me and simply give me a chance to shine, I’m the sort of dog who will quietly work my way right into your heart and never leave. I hope you find out that you need me in your life just as much as I need you.

I’m an adorable, 1 1/2-year-old, 56-pound Rottweiler mix, with the cutest, expressive face and ears, soft fur, and an unassuming, mostly chill except when I’m playing, delightful personality. I’m equally happy to lounge on the couch or to quietly watch out the window as the world goes by or to joyfully run at full speed with other dogs. I’m even already crate trained and mostly housebroken, too, although please stay patient with me when I have accidents, especially as I get settled in and learn my new routine. I came to Wayside as a stray what seems like a lifetime ago, after spending months on my own just trying to get by. I’ve had a difficult life, but I am resilient and I am a survivor. Still, it felt confusing and worrisome to be at the big shelter, even as I made a few friends who helped me learn manners and life skills. And then I really got lucky, when my rescuer became my foster mom. We’ve been together for a few weeks now, and it’s been an incredible time! It feels so nice to be cared for and loved.

Foster Mom understands my insecurities and that living in a home is new and strange to me, so she has given me all the time I’ve needed to go at my own pace, and she is careful never to push me to do things that I’m not ready for. This has helped to put me at ease, even as I still sometimes get startled and anxious with sudden movements and strange noises. My crate is my safe place, where I feel happy and content, and I know that no one will bother me, including when visitors stop by. I will need a safe place to retreat to when I feel uncomfortable or uneasy at my new home as well. I quietly stay in my crate at night and typically when no one is home, up to about 8 hours at a time. I’m well behaved in the house, though, and I can be trusted out of my crate when Foster Mom is running quick errands, up to a couple hours. I usually just nap, investigate, or look out the window when she’s not home. She keeps plenty of my toys around, which I love, and puts away any food that might tempt me.

I will thrive with a patient, calm style and positive reinforcement training. If you praise and gently encourage me when I’m a good girl, I’ll learn what you expect from me. Of course, a tasty treat helps too. Once I get to know you, I will soak up attention from you. Pets, soft kisses, and massages all feel so good to me, but I’m not comfortable with hugs and snuggling for now. Foster Mom lets me make my own choices and she lets me do things in my own way and time. I like that. I bark in excitement when I’m playing with her other dogs, but I’m otherwise calm and quiet.

I love to be outdoors! We have a secure 6-foot privacy fence, where I love to run and play and explore with the other dogs that I live with. The companionship, fresh air, and sunshine make me feel so happy. Leash walking is new to me. We practice with a leash and harness in the yard, and I’m doing really well. I hope you’ll work with me in this area, too. Once I’m comfortable, I will prefer walking in a familiar, quiet, low-traffic area, where I know what to expect.

I am most content and happy when I’m around other dogs. I’m great friends with Foster Mom’s dogs, but I’m best friends forever with another dog that she is fostering. If you’re looking for two fantastic dog friends, we’ll be happy to both go home with you! The dogs I currently live with have taught me so much about life as a family dog, including opening me up to human connections, and we have a fabulous time playing tug or chase or just hanging out together. I also live with dog savvy cats in my foster home. I’m curious and interested in them, but I’ve learned to back off when needed. I’m looking for a quiet and calm yet active home with kids over the age of at least 10. I will need a fenced yard and another dog who must be present when we meet, which will help me relax. Mostly, I hope to find a home with kind, caring people who will understand my quirks and show me grace as I learn about and experience my new life.

I hope that maybe you want to make a difference for a sweet dog who has never had a thing in life. I will be so grateful for you, and I will never take my new life for granted. I have so much to offer. I’m well behaved, calm, quiet, playful, silly, and tons of fun. I’m a good girl, I deserve a chance, and I can’t wait to be your dog.

Love, Trinity

P.S. Foster Mom has prepared a care package to go home with me when you adopt me, including a collar, harness, leash, and my own dog bowl! Yep, she loves me that much and she wants us to have a great start together.
