Meet Tribble the tripod double amputee

“Why have all my humans let me down when all I’ve ever done is love them?”

This is Tribble. He is a most unique dog but his story is quite common. Originally rescued from a shelter after he was found at a local park, Tribble was critically injured with his leg and penis literally rotting off his body after becoming tangled in what we believe was a tie-out cable. Tribble was rushed to the ER at UGA where he underwent thousands of dollars of surgery which saved his life. His right rear leg was amputated and he essentially had “gender reassignment” surgery to re-plumb his entire urinary system. Though genetically male he now appears to be a female dog and he urinates like one, too. This brave, strong boy is not handicapped in any way. He can run, climb stairs and do anything a four-legged dog can do. To meet Tribble today you would never imagine he had such a horrible past.

Tribble was adopted a few months ago but he was returned to us yesterday. This poor guy has been bounced around his entire three years of life and it’s way past time for someone to WHOLEHEARTEDLY commit to giving him the life he deserves. Tribble is a good, sweet dog. He is friendly, funny and loyal. He is energetic but not obnoxiously so as long as he gets proper exercise. He is both house-trained and crate-trained. Tribble has met some cats in passing and had no reaction to them but we cannot say he is cat-safe with certainty because he has never lived with them. In the past he has lived with other dogs and done fine with them for the most part. Tribble REQUIRES a home with a fully fenced yard — no exceptions this time. Tribble is leash-reactive (meaning that he barks excitedly and pulls when walking past other dogs) but he has been working with a professional behaviorist/trainer to curb this behavior. His next human(s) will need to either a)be fully committed to continuing and improving his proper leash-manner training or b)not take him on walks out in public and instead exercise him within the confines of a fenced back yard. Either option will work, we just need his next home to be ALL IN so that his next move will be his last.

Despite the trauma of continually losing the people, homes and routines he knows, Tribble remains cheerful and hopeful. He trusts us to take care of him and we will. Please, share this post and help this special boy find the people who truly want to be his family FOREVER.

Tribble is fully vetted -- neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and deworming. The adoption fee is $300. We accept payment in the form of cash, CashApp and Zelle.
