Tree's Story
Tree is a 1-year-old, 50-lb male Black Lab mix (fun-size edition) with a gentle soul and an easygoing, observant nature. He may be small for a Lab, but he has an impressive amount of love packed into him. Compact, adorable, and easy to have around, Tree is fully house trained and crate trained—a truly respectful king—and a certified snuggle bug who is low maintenance and happy to go with the flow.
Tree is a sweet, sensitive boy who shines as a quiet companion. He came up from an overcrowded Kentucky shelter and has settled beautifully into a calm, steady rhythm in his foster home. He doesn’t need constant activity to be a great presence; instead, he enjoys being near his people, following them from room to room, and soaking up the day at his own relaxed pace. His favorite things include leisurely neighborhood strolls, sunbathing in the yard like it’s his full-time job, watching planes drift across the sky, enjoying snacks (he’s very food motivated), and claiming cozy spots to lounge with quiet company.
Socially, Tree coexists well with other dogs but prefers to keep interactions low-key. He’s not much of a wrestler or chaser and would rather observe than participate in rowdy play. His ideal home is a calm, easygoing environment with people who appreciate a lower-energy dog and want a steady, gentle companion instead of a high-octane playmate. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-maintenance dog with a peaceful presence, Tree just might be your guy.
If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet!

The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed!

*please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.
