Torta's Story

Meet Torta

Estimated DOB: 02/14/2022

First, we need to explain the name.

Torta came into Bellwood as a stray and was personally named by the police officer who brought her in. Why Torta?

Because girlfriend was THICCCCCC.

And, it fit.

Torta arrived with a serious appreciation for food and the body to prove it. Since then, she's been working on herself. No GLP-1s. No trendy diet. Just good old-fashioned portion control, exercise, and the absolute betrayal of realizing not every set of puppy-dog eyes results in a snack.

She lost the weight, got her summer body, and is looking fantastic.

Now she's ready for her winter bod, which preferably involves a couch, snacks in moderation, and a forever family to snuggle with.

Torta is a big, sweet, gentle girl who absolutely loves her people. She's perfectly happy hanging outside or becoming one with your couch, as long as she gets to be wherever you are. She's a certified shadow who will happily follow you around the house supervising absolutely everything you do.

She loves toys, treats, and food, obviously. She knows sit and kennel, sometimes remembers down, and is crate trained. She's still working on house training and can have accidents when left alone.

Torta is dog friendly with both male and female dogs of all sizes, cat friendly, and has done well with older kids.

She does come with a few quirks. Socks are apparently a delicacy and should be kept out of reach unless you'd like to contribute to Torta's ongoing research into whether laundry is edible. She also still has some fear around random household objects like boxes and laundry baskets, but she's continuing to work through it.

Her perfect family will be patient, have a fenced yard, understand that she's still learning, and have a respectable toy budget.

Torta has already gone from stray girl to summer bod.

Now she just needs the final piece of her glow-up: a family of her own.

Preferably one with snacks.

Apply to adopt Torta at rescueapittie.org.
