Tooty 9494's Story

Tooty came in with 7 other dogs from the same home, where they lived with an elderly mother, her son, and each other. They have spent their entire lives in a familiar home environment and have had very little experience with people outside of their family.

Because of this, they are understandably nervous around new people and are still learning that they are safe here. They are beginning to warm up, but the shelter environment has been especially frightening for them. They are not accustomed to living in kennels, and being away from everything they have ever known has left them scared and overwhelmed.

These dogs need patient adopters who understand that they may not immediately show their true personalities. They will need time to decompress, a quiet and predictable environment, and someone willing to let them build trust at their own pace. With patience, consistency, and a little time, they have the opportunity to become loving companions in a home of their own.

They need homes as soon as possible. The longer they remain frightened and overwhelmed in the shelter, the harder it may become for them to adjust. If you are someone who is willing to give a scared dog time to find their confidence, please consider giving one of these dogs the safe and patient home they need.
