Tootsie

Available soon: Tootsie is a very sweet 1 year old Chihuahua mix, possibly a Chiweenie, weighing around 10 lbs. She was rescued from a hoarding situation where she had been neglected. She is responding nicely to all the love and attention now. She doesn’t know stairs or leashes yet, but her foster mom is working on both with her and is making progress. She is interested in other small dogs and gets along well with her 6 new foster siblings. Tootsie will thrive in a home with at least one small doggie pal. <br/>She will gently take treats from her foster mom’s hand, already enjoys being pet, and is starting to play with toys! These are probably all new experiences for her. She doesn’t mind being closed in her kennel for meals, and did okay getting her nails trimmed. She will use puppy pads, but is taking cues from the others when they go outside, and is catching on quickly. Tootsie is shy, so will need a bit of extra time and understanding while she adjusts. She is up to date on boosters and has recently been spayed.<br/><br/>Tootsie is in foster care. Meet & Greets can be arranged for approved applicants.<br/><br/>*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.  <br/>If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.<br/><br/>We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.<br/><br/>*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!
