Tootie's Story

Meet Tootie! This sweet Maltese mix has creamy white fur, soft apricot markings, soulful brown eyes, and the cutest little tail that curls into a tiny coil at the tip. Tootie is a gentle, mellow girl with a quietly affectionate personality. She enjoys being near her people, whether that means following you around the house or curling up somewhere cozy nearby. She’s not necessarily a lap dog, but rather a sweet companion who simply enjoys sharing your space. She’s developing the most adorable little bouncy strut on her walks, and when she sees someone she’s missed, she greets them with a happy wag of that perfectly curled tail! Tootie came into rescue from a home with many other dogs, and she’s now discovering the joys of individual attention and a routine of her own. She’s still finding her confidence, and more of her personality shines through each day. She appreciates a gentle, thoughtful approach and people who let her settle in at her own pace. She’s been wonderful with other dogs, including her senior foster sister, whose space she respects beautifully. Tootie is getting the hang of leash walking and really enjoying short strolls. She’s food-motivated and loves treats and enrichment puzzles. She appears to be house-trained with regular potty breaks, sleeps in a crate beside her foster family’s bed, and is learning to settle on her own with a little enrichment. She’s also been a pretty quiet houseguest so far. Tootie is learning that the world can be a soft place to land, and we’d love to find her people who will help keep it that way. Be sure to complete an application on line and come meet Tootie at our Meet & Greet Saturday 11:30-1:30.<br/>If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website at www.ny-petrescue.org. Only applications submitted directly to Petrescue will be considered.
