Toothless's Story

Meet Toothless — Our Very Own Little Dragon!

We named him Toothless after the dragon from How to Train Your Dragon... and honestly, the name fits because this boy is one quirky little creature who seems to have been assembled completely out of order.

We are pretty sure Toothless was put together like a puzzle where someone dumped all the pieces on the floor, closed their eyes, and just started grabbing.

For starters, we think his head is on the wrong side of his body because his butt is somehow higher than his shoulders. And those jowls? Oh, those glorious, excessive jowls. Toothless has approximately 47 extra pounds of skin around his mouth, which means eating is less of a meal and more of a food distribution event. His bowls, his face, the floor... everyone gets to participate!

Toothless is also a man who knows what he wants. And when he doesn’t get it?

TANTRUM.

He will dramatically flop onto his back like a toddler who has just been informed that bedtime is not optional.

He has a very special bulldog whine that he uses when he wants attention, and apparently he believes the best way to get attention is to sound like a tiny, heartbroken Victorian child.

Then there’s the shower.

For reasons known only to Toothless, he likes to get IN the shower with you. Personal space? Never heard of it. Boundaries? Don’t know her. Apparently if you’re getting clean, he would like to supervise.

And walking upstairs?

BACKWARDS.

Of course.

Because why would a normal dog simply walk up the stairs facing forward when you can reverse your way to the top like a tiny forklift?

Toothless desperately wants to play, but we’re not entirely convinced he understands the concept. He’ll try his very best, get completely confused, and somehow turn playtime into a full-body malfunction.

But underneath all of his ridiculousness is a sweet, lovable, completely unique bulldog who is going to make someone laugh every single day.

Toothless isn’t perfect.

He isn’t graceful.

He isn’t coordinated.

He isn’t particularly dignified.

And we’re fairly certain his internal GPS is permanently recalculating.

But he is 100% Toothless, and we think that’s pretty darn special.

If you’re looking for a perfectly behaved, sophisticated dog... keep scrolling.

But if you’re looking for a hilarious, wrinkly, backwards-walking, shower-loving, tantrum-throwing little bulldog who will keep life entertaining?

Toothless would like to speak with you. Preferably while standing backwards on the stairs.

Toothless is available for adoption through Cause For Paws RESCUE.
Applications can be found at causeforpaws.net.

Cause For Paws's Adoption Policy
In order to encourage folks to rescue homeless Orphans, we try to make the rescue experience as non-invasive and pleasant as possible. First, an application is completed prior to meeting any of our orphans. Since we do not have a shelter, it’s important to be able to pre-qualify folks that will be making appointments with fosters, to meet any of our orphans. We do a vet check, to verify all current or previous dogs are up to date on vaccines, heartworm testing, heartworm prevention, and are either spayed or neutered. We may also contact references listed on the application when there is no previous vet information, or where more information is needed. We’ll then contact you to arrange a home visit, which is merely an opportunity to ask and answer any questions regarding our process. Since most of our orphans have already been in a situation that was not right for them, we want to do whatever it takes to allow them to succeed. It is not our intent to set a dog or a family up for failure.
