Tony's Story
**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.

Hi my name is Tony, I'm about 4 years old. I'm originally from Kentucky, where I was found in the shelter yard in the morning. According to the security cameras I was thrown over the 6 foot fence. Unfortunately the cameras weren't able to identify the individuals who threw me over. If they could do that, you can imagine the life I must have had with them.

I am the sweetest and most loving little guy. I love to snuggle up and put my head on moms lap. It feels so good to be loved. Do you like kisses? I love to give kisses! I have some insecurities and can be a nervous little guy with new people but once I get to know you, I'm good. Although most of my pictures look like I'm scared to death I'm not. I call it my attentive look.

I am good with other dogs, at first meeting I am cautious, I don't want to be beat up so a dog park would not be the best place for me. I'm not sure if I have ever been around a cat so a home visit is definitely needed.

In my foster homes I haven't been around kids except once here and I was fine. We basically ignored each other. As you can imagine, I am not a fan of being picked up.

I LOVE to run!!! It's even better running while playing chased. I require a decent size fenced in yard to give me that space to run. If you are an active person I would be an awesome sidekick if you guide me. I'm a little watch dog with a decent bark. Yes, I want people to know my yard is protected by me! I am crate trained but I will occasionally bark, which doesn't make me appropriate for apartment life. I am quite the puller on the leash, so some work with me on that would make both of our lives better.

I will potty outside if you make me go outside and tell me to go potty. I have a habit of only doing a few squirts, not totally emptying my bladder but I will backtrack around and so some more squirts. While I will follow the other dogs out the dog door it's to see what action is going on, not necessarily to potty. I do have a dirty habit of marking inside but mom and I are working really hard on figuring out why.....she hates that I do that. Mom thinks it all revolves around being so insecure. Since I've been in NY I'm in my third foster home which probably hasn't helped. Mom thinks most dogs who have issues need an outlet to resolve the issues, she is determined to find out what that is so I can finally find my forever home.

You might be able to turn my world around. Are you willing to help me work on my insecurities and give me a loving home? That is my biggest wish, to belong to someone who will love me for me....please give me that chance.

Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
