Tony's Story

Hi, my name is Tony! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Energetic, youthful
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history with kids. We are recommending dog-savvy teens 14 years+.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history with cats. SLOW/SUPERVISED introductions required if attempting. Not a good match for senior or shy cats.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Tony seems to enjoy being around dogs of similar size and energy levels as him. Initial intros held at WHS to ensure everyone gets along.
-Can do Apartment Living: No thanks, due to his history and size/energy levels apartments would not be a good fit.
-Potty Trained: Seems to be mostly potty trained.
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, 1-3 private lessons required for adoption.
-Energy Level: High!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes a neuter/microchip. (Included with adoption)
-Additional Information:
Tony is a handsome pup with a big heart and an even bigger personality! Although he's technically an adult, he's still very much a puppy at heart. He's full of energy, loves being around people, and is always ready to soak up affection. Like many young dogs, Tony is still learning his manners. Tony would do best with an active family that can give him plenty of exercise, enrichment, and opportunities to continue building his confidence. He can be startled by new experiences or loud commotion, so he'll benefit from patient guidance and reassurance as he adjusts to unfamiliar situations. He'll thrive with a family that's committed to providing consistent, positive training to help him become the wonderful companion he's meant to be.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
