Tommy's Story

Tommy

Tommy has been at the shelter for 92 days. 92 long, hard days. Many of you may remember Tommys photos when he first came to us. His spirit was broken, he was unsure what he did to deserve the life he was handed. But little did Tommy know he was going to receive the VIP treatment coming in!

Tommy had such bad pressure sores on both sides of his hips that you could almost see his bones. Sores so deep and bad off even doc said they were one of the worst ones he has seen! Tommy was severely underweight but he still held his head high and loved people.

Thanks to Cox Veterinary Hospital for getting Tommy in quickly and a very generous donor for covering his medical bill, and our animal care team for not giving up on him, Tommy is now almost 20lbs heavier, and his sores...almost nonexistent!!

His spirit is slowly coming back and hes ready to put the bad things behind him and find that special family who can show him what its like to have someone love him unconditionally.

He's a pretty chill guy who dosent seem to let alot phase him. Yard time? Cool, he can go sniff around - completely ignoring you

But like most bully breeds, he quite enjoys sun baking like a potato! He dosent mind if he has to share a play yard with other dogs or kids. He just does his own thing! He takes treats gently and walks wonderful on a leash. While we cant say hes 100% potty trained, he is very good about going to the outside of his indoor/outdoor run to go potty.

Tommy has grown quite found of having a big thick blanket to sleep on to help his hips and the pressure sores, so a comfy bed to sleep on is at the top of his list. He loves to "talk" to you when he wants attention or event just a treat! This boy is the exact reason our staff keeps going everyday. Knowing there are animals who truly need people to step in and help them.

Stop by and ask to meet Tommy and see how much love he has to give even though he has been failed by humans his whole 3 years of his life. Tommy is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, on monthly preventives. Now he just needs you
